Homework
Math: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
Reading and Spelling: Please fill out the purple contract for reading and spelling.
Dates
BOOK REPORTS: I understand that asking students to be done with their book reports before Christmas Break is a little hard for them. Therefore, I am changing the due date to January 26th. I am going to count the historical fiction as December’s and January’s book report. I hope this does not cause a problem. If your child still wants to present his or her book report this month, they may do so.
December 19th-January 5th: Christmas Break
December 18th: We will be having our Christmas Party starting at 11:00 a.m.
This Week
We are still working on our persuasive essays. Last week students practiced writing a persuasive letter. Those are being sent home today.
We are working on multiplication and division for our math topic this week. Thank you again for working on math facts with your child. Students are now better able to understand the process of multiplying two digits by two digits.
Please remember that we have P.E. on Wednesdays and students need to wear the appropriate footwear for that. It is going to be very cold this week and students will still be going outside for recess. Please make sure they have warm clothes with them.

Dear Parents,
I am so excited to be teaching in the 4th grade! I am looking forward to teaching the curriculum and working with your child. There are a few items that I want to make you aware of.
Students may bring in a healthy snack during the day. This can be either a fruit or vegetable. They may eat their snack in the morning when we focus on reading.
We will be celebrating birthdays in the classroom. Students may bring in a treat to share with others. Treats must be store bought unless you have a food handlers permit. We will be eating this treat at the very end of the day (around 3:20).
A homework sheet to record reading minutes will be coming home on Monday. Please record minutes and return the sheet on the following Monday. There will also be a math worksheet coming home each night (Monday through Thursday). Students need to bring these worksheets back each morning. If homework is not turned in, students will be working on it outside while we are at recess.
We will be having P.E. every other Monday and every Wednesday. P.E. will start this Monday. Please have your child wear long pants or shorts with the appropriate shoes.
I want your child to have a great experience in our class. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Miss Manderino

Summer Websites
I added two more websites onto the list. One is called "mad libs" that will help students with parts of speech. The other one is labeled "more math activities" and these are games that help students with math facts. I'm hoping to scan in math worksheets and language activities next week for students to practice if they like. I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer!
